It is time for you to find Your Hidden Door.
The most difficult step of any journey is the first one. You have lived with the repeating memories for so long and have worked so hard to push them down but they always pop back up just when you least expect it. So maybe it’s time to take that step.
I figured out how to treat the memories of traumatic experiences. My intervention has helped a lot of people regain control and start to heal. Many report some immediate benefits while others say the progress is slow, like an awakening to the realization that you can make it — that you are in control of your own life — that it wasn’t your fault at all. But you need to take that first step. And the time is now.
My patients pushed me to share this intervention and helped me accept that it works. My patients described their experiences and told me about the recurring and never-ending memories that haunted them for years — memories that kept them captive in a recurring nightmare. And they told me about how they saw a way out for the first time while participating in this exercise — like finding a door that they could open — finally — their Hidden Door.
Now, it is time for you to find Your Hidden Door. The exercise appears to work best when someone acts as the guide — a friend, loved one, or professional — as you will need to keep your eyes closed the entire time and address each step in your mind. And you need to be strong in order to regain control of your life and confront those who hurt you and maintain control over your life even after they are far removed.
Take the first step. It is time. Email me if you need support (DrHoward@YourHiddenDoor.com). Talk to your therapist for continuing counseling as ongoing counseling is very important as you heal especially since other issues usually arise that you may have buried for many years.
